3 Potentially Dangerous Yeast Infection Myths

A yeast infection is such a common problem that many people almost take them for granted. However, some misinformation has been passed between so many people, and written up on so many websites, that they have turned into ?common knowledge.? Don?t make important health decisions based on these myths.

I recently searched through as many scientific papers and books on yeast infections that I could find, while doing research for a new book. During that research I uncovered some extremely important information that you need to know.

Myth #1: You can always tell you have a yeast infection because the symptoms are so obvious.

Fact: It isn?t true. The symptoms of a yeast infection are definitely not exclusive to infections caused by Candida albicans yeast. That means that other types of conditions, including infections caused by bacteria and parasites, give you the same itch, the same redness, and very similar discharge. This is true for both vaginal yeast infections and male yeast infections.

This matters to you because bacterial infections are actually more common than yeast infections, and studies have proven that the majority of women who self-diagnose their own symptoms are getting it wrong.

Some of the ?false yeast infections? can cause permanent damage to your reproductive organs and prevent you from having children. And some of these infections can be sexually transmitted to your partner.

Myth #2: Yeast causes yeast infections.

Fact: This isn?t really true either. While the itching and pain of a current yeast infection is being caused, usually, by Candida yeast, that isn?t what caused the infection in the first place. During my research I uncovered over 17 different environmental and health conditions that can trigger yeast infections.

Some of them are quite harmless, like using the wrong brand of soap.

But others are quite serious, because chronic yeast infections can be a symptom of an underlying illness, like diabetes or AIDS. Your chronic infections could be your body?s way of telling you that something is wrong, and that you need to see your doctor.

Myth #3: Yeast infections are basically harmless, even though they?re aggravating and itchy.

Fact: On thankfully rare occasions, this isn?t true, either. Over 10,000 people in the United States die of yeast infections every year. People with compromised immune systems are sometimes the victim of systemic yeast infections that attack their blood cells and organs, and these infections can be fatal.

And new, drug-resistant strains of Candida yeast are now a growing threat in hospitals, where the highly aggressive strains attach themselves to hospital surfaces and even staff clothing. These strains are very difficult to treat, and can pose a serious danger to patients. This problem is far greater in remote third-world hospitals, but is causing increasing concern in developed nations, as well.

There are many more facts that you need to know about yeast infections, so you can make intelligent, informed decisions about your health. To learn more, be sure to visit Jonni?s website at http://www.YourYeastInfection.com

Yeast is naturally found in our bodies in the form of a fungus called Candida. Sometimes however the growth of this fungus goes haywire and as a result we get a yeast infection.

Candida is normally found in the moist areas of the body such as the mouth, throat and digestive tract as well rectal and vaginal areas. Thus these are the areas that would get infected and hence where yeast infection symptoms are most likely to appear. The severity of the infection dictates what symptoms will manifest.

Yeast infection symptoms can be severe itching and burning of vaginal areas, painful sex or sexual dysfunction, virginal odour, vaginal discharge, chronic rashes, digestive issues and irritability ? these are just some of the symptoms of the yeast infection. Men can also suffer yeast infections in which case the manifestation of rashes, soreness around the penile areas is more likely.

Things can become really bad if you have systemic yeast infection which is when basically the infection damages the internals of the stomach and allows poisons in the form of unprocessed foods to enter the bloodstream. The symptoms are diverse and vary from person to person.

It is really important that if you suspect that you have any yeast infection symptoms that you get diagnosed straight away by your doctor. For quick peace of mind a simple test you can do to see fewer yeast infection is the saliva test.

Whilst this is not a medically endorsed test it is alleged to be a reasonable indication of the presence of a yeast infection, besides it?s easy and dirt cheap to do. All you need is a glass of water and your saliva. The first thing you need to do the morning before you eat or do anything is to work up a good saliva and split it into the glass of water. You then need to watch what happens to your saliva. If any of the following happens over a period of 30 minutes then there?s a good chance that you have a yeast infection: 1) the saliva sinks to the bottom, 2) the water turns cloudy 3) it looks like strings suspended from the ceiling (top of the water).

If we take our sources one by one, your physician has the ability to give you prescription medications which can potentially a yeast infection cure for you. For instance, the prescription drug Diflucan uses only one dosage and is supposed to be a particularly effective yeast infection cure.

Other prescription yeast infection cures include Terazol and Gynazole, both of which are vaginal creams, and also Mycostatin which comes in the form of vaginal tablets or vaginal suppositories.

All of these have side effects which you should be aware of when taking them, as do the next set of potential yeast infection cure, the over-the-counter variety.

Up until the very early part of the twenty first century it is shameful to admit but there were no over the counter remedies available as a yeast infection cure. On the contrary, if a woman had a yeast infection she had to visit her doctor to get proper medical attention and to receive a yeast infection cure.

So although the offerings in this department are still woefully meager, they are nonetheless there and available to anyone who doesn?t wish to advertise to the world, or their doctor, that they have a yeast infection.

Although it is best if you get a proper checkup for your yeast infection it can?t be denied that with the availability of these creams a new world has opened up, and women can now treat such a simple problem without any attendant fuss or hoopla.

All the available over-the-counter yeast infection cures work along the same principles as the prescription yeast infection cure, and most of them come in cream form, or suppository form. The more familiar brands include Monistat, Femstat, and Vagistat.

Moving on next to the natural cures and remedies section, you will find that the number of alternative yeast infection cure methods are too numerous to do more than give an honorable mention here.

To that end only a few of the well known natural yeast infection cure methods have been mentioned. To begin with we?ll start off with everyone?s favorite the yogurt yeast infection cure. It can be messy in the extreme to have to apply yogurt to the vagina, but it turns out that it is well worth the effort.

Another natural yeast infection cure that is well known and used is that of the garlic cure. Being one of the wonder herbs of the world, garlic is good for many an ailment and is a particularly effective yeast infection cure, especially when used as a suppository.

Next up you have apple cider vinegar, cranberries, oregano, cinnamon, curd, Tea Tree oil, lemon, lime, and Vitamin C. All of these can be used as an effective yeast infection cure and all of them work.

Yeast infections are not only a problematic condition, but irritating as well. While there are many yeast infection remedies, there are those who claim non-traditional methods can be just as effective in treating this condition. Let?s take a look at one such remedy.

Grown in Australia, tea tree oil does contain known chemicals which reduce fungus. The component in tea tree oil which effectively has been used to treat fungal conditions is terpinen-4-ol. Known to dissipate fungus and bacteria, tea tree oil can be used as a topical antiseptic to relieve such conditions as acne, athlete?s foot, and yeast infections. In fact, this oil has been used in the treatment of candidiasis which is an infection of the mouth and throat. Although research is ongoing, studies have shown that tea tree oil has been effective in treating vaginal infections.

While research into the effects of this oil as it applies to infections are ongoing, tea tree oil is more commonly known to be a component in toothpaste, shampoos, acne treatments and baby care products. However, recent studies suggest that tea tree oil is one of many components which are used as yeast infection cures.

Upon further investigation, you can find a myriad of online sites promoting creams, oils, ointments, blends, and other yeast infection cures which may leave you skeptical. The best way to determine what course of action to take is to first visit your gynecologist or family doctor to ascertain whether or not you have a yeast infection. Remember, this can occur in men as well as women.

Once it is determine exactly what type of infection you have, then you can ascertain what course of treatment is appropriate. Perhaps you may wish to use over the counter or prescribed medications to treat the condition. Moreover, you may find that home remedies for yeast infection work just as well. However, be careful; as you may have a condition which needs to be properly diagnosed and treated.

The old saying, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" may apply here. Therefore in trying to prevent this condition from occurring, you utilize some necessary steps to avoid having to go through the pain and annoyance accompanying this condition.

Try not to wear tight clothing that keeps moisture trapped inside; good hygiene habits are essential; ensure your genital area is dry; after each bowel movement, wipe from front to back; avoid feminine sprays; avoid antibiotics as much as you can; and ensure you receive plenty of rest and exercise. A poor immune system is one of the contributory factors in developing a yeast infection.

If you develop a yeast infection, seek medical advice to determine the level of infection. Yeast infection remedies are abundant; but use caution and engage in research to determine the best course of action for you.

Yeast Infection and Sexual Intercourse - What Role Does Sex Play in Your Yeast Infection?

Having a yeast infection and sexual intercourse can really take the joy out of what is intended to be a loving, intimate experience between two consenting adults.

The burning, itching, and even pain during copulation experienced by the woman can make it unbearable for sexual intercourse to continue. Doesn?t sound like fun, does it?

The vagina, vulva, and labia are irritated when a woman has a yeast infection, resulting in terrible itching, a burning sensation, and in some cases, pain when the area is touched.

If the woman attempts to have sexual intercourse, then the pain really sets in. If she attempts to have sexual intercourse and is not properly lubricated, the pain can be severe as already-irritate sensitive tissues become even more irritated.

Having sexual intercourse during treatment for a yeast infection, even if the woman is not experiencing too much pain, can be risky. The creams and suppositories commonly used to treat yeast infections can cause latex condoms to burst, possibly resulting in pregnancy or transmission of a sexually transmitted disease (STD).

It can be a good idea to wait until your yeast infection is under control to return to having sexual intercourse if you rely on latex condoms for birth control or do not have a monogamous, long-standing relationship with one sexual partner that has been tested and is known to be free of any STDs.

When a woman does have unprotected sex, either due to unwise choices or because she is part of a monogamous relationship, the yeast infection can into the man?s penis and cause him to become infected.

While many men have no symptoms and often no treatment is required, if the woman has sexual intercourse again with that man while he is infected, she will again experience a yeast infection.

If you are sexually active, either avoid sexual intercourse during treatment of a yeast infection or seek the advice of your health care professional to obtain treatment for both partners.

When both partners of a relationship obtain treatment, the cycle can be broken.

Yes, yeast infection and sexual intercourse are not good partners. But, curing your yeast infection can return you to enjoying sexual encounters without itching, burning and pain.

Yeast Infection Symptoms - What Are They and How Do I Get Rid of Them?

Annoying and sometimes painful yeast infection symptoms of the vagina or penis occur in many otherwise healthy people. It isn?t even necessary to be sexually active to get a yeast infection although yeast can be transmitted sexually or the symptoms can be made worse by sexual activity.

In males, there are often no symptoms at all when a yeast infection occurs. When there are symptoms, the signs are usually itching, burning on urination, or a discharge from the penis.

In females, yeast infection symptoms are often more pronounced. The signs include vaginal discharge which may be white and have a cheesy consistency. There may also be an unusual vaginal odor which flags an infection.

Itching and a burning sensation may be present and may become worse after sexual activity. A bad yeast infection may make intercourse impossible due to the burning and itching.

Yeast infections occur more frequently in females because of the warm, moist environment of the vagina and genital organs. Women who wear nylon underwear, panty hose, plus other layers of clothing provide a perfect environment for the bacteria to multiply. These infections are really just an imbalance of bacteria which allow yeast to over-multiply.

Men less frequently experience yeast infections as a result of spontaneous events. Most often, men get the infection from sexual activity with a partner who has yeast but in some cases it may occur simply because of the warm, moist environment, especially in men who remain in wet clothing after swimming, perspiring a great deal, or for any other reason that extra moisture is present.

While yeast infection symptoms are nothing to be ignored, the infection is easy to treat in most cases. Your physician or gynecologist can prescribe medication which, for women, is inserted into the vagina and directly attacks the invading yeast. For male and in some case for stubborn infections in females, oral medication is necessary.

What is the Cause of Yeast Infections

The statistics reports that at least 75% of the women in their lifetime will get at least one yeast infection. Some of theses women will even get recurring yeast infections. But to prevent them you first need to be well informed about the cause of yeast infection.

First I must clarify the fact that there is no one cause for vaginal yeast infection. There are various factors that provoke them such as:

- Simple stress
- Hormonal changes
- Transference through sexual intercourse
- And more

So because of this it is a good idea to be well informed about the different cause of yeast infections. To be aware of theses causes will help you avoid getting a yeast infection in the long run.

One cause of yeast infections is antibiotics. You see antibiotics are created to kill of any bacteria in your body. The problem with this is that sometimes these antibiotics, whether they overused or not, will kill some of the good bacteria?s in your body. The side effect can often be an imbalance in your body therefore increasing the growth of yeast producing bacteria.

As I wrote earlier stress can also become a cause of yeast infections. Stress as the power to change your hormones around resulting in a yeast infection.

Also hormonal changes are a major factor in the cause of yeast infections. Pregnant women, lactating women and menopausal are affected greatly. For the average women the same applies with their menstruation cycle.

As for men the most usual cause of yeast infection is through sexual intercourse with yeast infected woman. This also includes oral sex.

Other factors can be a major cause of yeast infections in women. Factor such as :

- the use of douches
- scented feminine hygiene products
- feminine sprays
- regular use of spermicidal cream
- and more

The combinations of some or all of these products will sometimes imbalance the delicate balance of the vagina which in turn can create a yeast infection.

Another well known cause of yeast infection that is largely overlooked is clothing. Items like tight jeans, pantyhose and synthetic underwear prevents the vagina from breathing properly. Clothing articles made from man made fibers will often do the same thing.

Chronic Yeast Infection Answers

Yeast infections are common in babies or small children, but that type of yeast infection is an oral yeast infection also known as thrush. It's not often that children have chronic yeast infections, but it can happen if a child encounters toys, bottles, pacifiers or other objects which have been infected by their own previous oral yeast infection, or that of another child's.

In adults however, chronic yeast infections can often be a sign that something else is wrong in the body. Yeast infections are able to take hold when the body's natural immunity is low. Since yeast infection causing bacteria live in our body, the potential for a yeast infection is always there. But we also have a number of "good" bacteria that live in our bodies too, and in a healthy person this good bacteria is usually able to keep the yeast infecting bacteria supressed.

When an adult has other health problems though, such as a severe illness or a diseases which weakens the immune system, they are more susceptible to having chronic yeast infections. The HIV virus and diabetes are two types of diseases that cause weakened immune systems, and people who suffer from these often find themselves having frequent recurring yeast infections too.

There are medications which can cause the chronic yeast infections too however. If for instance, you take prescription antibiotics frequently, you run the risk of getting yeast infections more often. Antibiotics kill all the bacteria in your body, good and bad, so while they can clear up problematic bacteria that's causing another health problem, they can

also cause side problems such as a yeast infection. Since there are no good bacteria alive n the body to keep the yeast infection bacteria suppressed, the yeast bacteria are often able to thrive.

Other types of medications can supress your immune system too. Prescription medicines used to treat certain skin diseases for instance, are designed to supress the immune system so that your body stops over producing skin cells. This supression unfortunately allows the yeast bacteria to thrive, so you can end up having multiple yeast infections when taking immune system supressing drugs.

Birth control pills are a common cause of chronic yeast infections in women. While they don't supress the body's immune system, they do cause hormonal changes which can have similar effects, thus creating an environment that yeast are able to thrive in.

Foods you choose to eat can also play a role is causing chronic yeast infections. Yeast feed on sugar and simple starches, so a diet high in carbohydrates or sweets can create ongoing problems with recurring, chronic yeast infections.

If you suffer from chronic yeast infections and are not taking prescription medications that could be the root cause, you'll need to look closely at your eating habits. Sometimes the remedy is fairly simple. If you eat a lot of cheese for instance, that could be contributing to chronic yeast infections because cheese has a high mold content. If you eat a lot of sugar and simple starches, you could try changing to a more moderate to low carb diet and see if that helps.

If food and medication does not seem to be the cause of your chronic yeast infections hough, you'll want to visit your doctor and get a complete physical, because it could be an indication of a more severe illness.

Nobody Wants a Yeast Infection

Free Video Reveals 1 Weird Tip To Quickly Cure Your Candida Overgrowth & Enjoy Permanent Freedom From Yeast Infections In As Little As 12 Hours - Guaranteed!

>> Yeast Infection Guaranteed Treatment Click Here <<

No one wants to get a candida albicans infection. They are painful, annoying, itchy, and just downright unpleasant! What should you do if you have a candida albicans infection? What treatment should you seek? How do you even know if you have one? Read on to find out.

Candida Albicans Infection Causes

A yeast infection basically occurs when the "bad bacteria" overpowers the good. You see our bodies are always engaging in a battle with bad bacteria, that we pick up in all kinds of places. Typically we are able to ward off infection, but sometimes the bacteria wins.

Certain factors greatly increase our chance for infection. These include factors such as antibiotics (which kill both good and bad bacteria), a poor diet that is high in sugar, and wearing tight or damp clothing.

Candida Albicans Infection Symptoms

Vaginal itching and or dryness and strong irritation are quite common symptoms. There is also typically a painful burning sensation. There may also be blistering.

Unfortunately these symptoms alone may not be indicative of a yeast infection. A doctor can acurately diagnose an infection with a simple test. I want to caution you to avoid taking prescribed or over the counter treatments unless you are sure you have an infection.

Taking medicated treatment for candida albicans infection can be dangerous if you are not sure you have an infection. This is why a natural remedy is such a perfect way to treat infection. You don't have to worry about harming your body if your diagnosis is wrong.

Treatment for Candida Albicans Infection

Over the counter treatment and doctor prescribed medicine is certainly an option for treatment. You do need to be careful as these are more potent forms of treatment, and can sometimes cause more harm then good with their side effects and sometimes ineffective treatment.

It is important to be careful with medication as it may just temporarily stop the infection. If you are doing things such as eating a poor diet you are just setting yourself up for a chronic problem.

Natural Treatment for Yeast Infections

I would encourage you to explore natural treatments for yeast infections. Natural treatments go right to the root of the problem and help you to not have a recurrent problem. Treatment is inexpensive and a lot safer. Conclusion

If you have a candida albicans infection, I hope you will consider a natural treatment. Above all be sure that you do not let it go unattended, as this can be dangerous!

When Yeast Infections Can Be Dangerous

Candida yeast is the cause of male yeast infections, oral thrush, vaginal yeast infections, and rashes on the skin.

Yeast can mutate quickly in the presence of anti-fungal drugs, just as bacteria can mutate to become resistant to antibiotics. The ability of Candida yeast to adapt and become drug resistant has caused considerable alarm among the medical profession, and some yeast infections can be dangerous. In fact, Candida infections kill up to 10,000 people in the United States each year.

For patients with a compromised immune system, a yeast infection can be dangerous, or even life threatening. A common yeast infection in AIDS patients called esophagitis may form in the upper digestive tract. This is an infection very similar to thrush, but it extends down from the mouth into the esophagus and stomach.

This type of infection can cause painful ulcers that make it too painful to swallow foods and liquids, so there is a danger of becoming dangerously dehydrated. Infections that spread to the intestine can cause malabsorbion of nutrients from food.

Blood-born Candida infections are also possible in patients with an immune system deficiency, and these infections can spread to the brain, causing changes in behavior or mental functioning. These systemic infections may require hospitalization and treatment by IV antibiotics. Unfortunately, the fatality rate is extremely high in immune-compromised patients.

Any Candida infection in a patient with a compromised immune system, including oral and vaginal yeast infections, must be treated quickly. Women who are undergoing chemotherapy treatment should be particularly cautious about attempting to treat a yeast infection with over-the-counter medicine ? a visit to your doctor is a much wiser choice.

Drug-resistant strains of Candida yeast are found in some hospitals, where the yeast organism has adapted to the use of disinfectants and strong antifungal drugs. These invasive strains of yeast can attack post-operative patients, and must be treated aggressively.

This risk is particularly common in some third-world hospitals, but it is causing increasing concern here in the US and other developed nations, as well.

Some scientists are also concerned that the increasing use of anti-fungal medications for common conditions like nail fungus can create drug-resistant strains of yeast.

Just a few of the recent studies are listed below:

? One recent study in Italy has found a possible vaccine for Candida infections, and they hope to begin human testing in the near future.

? Another study has discovered an anti-fungal compound found in a sea sponge that lives in the Indian Ocean. They hope this discovery will lead to a new treatment for fungal infections that threaten AIDS and cancer patients.

? Scientists at Johns Hopkins University have found that a drug normally used to treat heart problems may also be helpful in combating chronic fungal infections.

Much more research must be done. Until then, anyone with a compromised immune system, because of AIDS, chemotherapy, or some kinds of cancer, should seek medical care immediately if they have any symptoms of a yeast infection.

A yeast infection is incredibly irritating when you have it and if you have been diagnosed with a yeast infection then please read on to find six tips to get rid of yeast infection problems. If you think you may have a yeast infection then this article will also help you to diagnose whether you have it or not.

Candidiasis is more commonly known as a yeast infection and is usually found within open tracts in the body. Usually it will be found in the vagina, the mouth and throat, skin and also mother's nipples when they are breastfeeding. It is caused by the over production of yeast organisms within our bodies normally initiated by unhygienic practices during sexual intercourse. It can also occur when taking a dose of antibiotics.

The first symptom of candidiasis is an itching or burning sensation in the infected area which may also include some discharge if the infected area is the vagina.

The first tip to get rid of yeast infection problems is to go and see your doctor. This may sound a bit patronising but many women get the self diagnoses wrong and mistake canidiasis for a vagina bacterial infection so it is important to see your doctor.

The second tip is to buy some natural yoghurt and apply it to the infected area liberally. There is also evidence that eating natural yoghurt can control the spread of the fungal microorganisms.

The third tip is to go to your pharmacy and purchase an over the counter treatment of which there are many. A popular product called Miconazole has been shown to be quite effective but can still take over a week of application to see the benefits of the treatment.

The fourth tip is to eat plenty of garlic. Your friends may not appreciate this tip but it has been shown to work with some women when eaten regularly.

The fifth tip is to NOT USE boric acid! It has been published that Boric acid will cure Candidiasis, please be very wary of this as Boric acid is in fact a poison! Please consult your doctor for medical advice.

The final tip is to use condoms during sexual intercourse and wash the genitals before and after sex.

I have shown in this article that yeast infections although unpleasant are very common and also highly treatable by a number of methods. It is important not to be embarrassed by having a yeast infection and it is also important to get professional medical advice before trying any treatments yourself.

You can always find the best yeast infection remedy. Yeast infection is kept under control by good bacteria found in our bodies. These good bacteria can be killed when antibiotics are used continuously. Your first remedy would be to stop taking antibiotics to save your good bacteria from dying, however you should consult your doctor prior to stopping any form of treatment. The use of antibacterial soaps may also kill good bacteria so swapping if for a different variety will be helpful.

Acidophillus is good bacteria. So if you are taking antibiotics, the second yeast infection remedy is to take three servings of acidophilus yogurt everyday. There are also some acidophilus supplements that may help with the production of acidophillus. Some of the over the counter acidophillus drugs available in drug stores are: Children's Acidophilus chewable tablets, Children?s Acidophilus Powder, Acidophilus caplets and Acidophilus Strawberry Liquid. If you continue with this treatment, after ten days or more, infection can be stopped.

If you continue taking your acidophilus yogurt soon as you notice any symptoms, it can be enough to cure a mild infection. You just have to ensure that you continue taking it until all the symptoms have completely gone. You should try this for a period of two weeks, if symptoms persist you should consult your doctor.

Some yeast medications include topical treatments, to be applied externally. The other type can be systematic which concentrates on your internal system. Usually, when a person believes they have a yeast infection because symptoms are present, the use of topical treatment is first used to treat the infection. But if a woman experiences yeast infection internally, topical treatments are not sufficient. Therefore, a physician should be consulted. Your doctor will prescribe more powerful drugs because the yeast infection is present internally.

If you are looking for the best yeast infection remedy, it is always advisable to consult your doctor to be sure that the medications you are taking are correct. Even if you think the medication your friend is taking is effective, it is important to understand that people have unique symptoms and the most effective treatment for you can be quite different.
